"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." - Ephesians 3:20-21
We all have dreams and goals right? If you're a very ambitious person, like myself, you probably tend to have these dreams that many people say are unrealistic. Some might even say that your dreams are impossible! Even still, we pursue our goals and dreams as we seek God's will for our lives.
Have you ever had a thought that made you think, "that definitely wasn't me."
I call those "heavenly dreams." The CRAZY thoughts that God sends our way to inspire us to begin something new or speak to someone's life.
These heavenly dreams can even sometimes be so crazy that it nearly seems impossible within your own capabilities. That's what's amazing about our God!
When our biggest dreams seem crazy or impossible, God is able to do far more than you can think or imagine. When our dreams align with the Will of God, He is more than able to accomplish the impossible.
So that leaves us with the question, "How do I know if it's God's will."
Let me tell you a secret. . . You won't until you walk.
I'll tell you a personal story to explain:
My father, when he was about twelve years old, had a dream that he wanted to start playing guitar. After a year of lessons, abuse, and nights filled with tears, he couldn't play the guitar. He doubted and questioned why God would give him this dream, yet he would never be able to play. So, he loosened the strings of the guitar, and placed it in the back of the closet.
Life continued, and 40 years later, he got married, had his most cherished three children, moved several times, then finally found himself moved back into his old childhood home where he grew up.
I was now twelve at the time, and being a nosy little girl, I decided to dig for treasure through the closets of this old home. I was digging through one of the back-bedroom closets when I came across the old guitar case.
Fast forward, and now I play instruments, write music, and have a ministry all of my own. . . all because of a lost dream that my dad had 40 years earlier.
You see, if my dad would not have taken the first step in asking for the guitar, then I would have never been given the opportunity to do everything that God had planned for me.
Even though my dad had the dream, God's plan wasn't for him solely. It was meant to lay the ground work for something else. Even when he couldn't see the reason why and everything looked impossible, God still had a plan.
You have to take that first step in saying "Yes, Lord" and allow Him to do the rest.
Don't be discouraged when your prayers don't get answered, or when it seems like your dream was a mistake. Time is a great teacher. It teaches us to be patient and wait on God's perfect timing - even when you don't know what will happen next.
When things seem impossible, that is when we can truly see God's great power move through own lives. It takes trusting Him with everything. And I mean EVERYTHING!
Don't allow what the world says cause you to worry or feel anxious. What the world sees as failure, God sees it as faith in action. Look around you and choose to see all that God has done in your life and through you.
Remember, our God is the God of impossible. There is no limit to what He can do.
